(TEMPORARY FULL TIME) SOCIAL WORKER MSW - EATING DISORDERS UNIT (EDU)
The Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is currently seeking a Social Worker, reporting to the Manager of Social Work and the Clinical Manager of our Eating Disorder Unit. The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of clinical social work in the area of mental health and addiction issues.
Responsibilities
In addition to psychosocial assessment, you will work to provide unique individual and group programming utilizing a variety of treatment modalities.
You will work actively with our multidisciplinary team, our families, referral sources and community partners and will provide case management, as needed, to newly‑discharged community‑based clients within a Recovery‑oriented treatment approach.
Our clients come with a history of severe and persistent mental illness and are in need of tertiary specialty services. Your role as discharge coordinator / planner is key.
Requirements
- Masters in Social Work
- Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing
- Demonstrated knowledge of the OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College
- 3‑5 years’ experience in a psychiatric / mental health setting or service
- Experience with evidence‑based program models that support the treatment of eating disorders (asset)
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical social / mental health work with eating‑disordered clients
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
- Sound knowledge of DSM‑IV diagnoses, concurrent disorders and crisis intervention theory and techniques (asset)
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrated competence in case management, clinical assessment, intervention and documentation of care
- Thorough knowledge of social work treatment methods applied in mental health settings / community
- Knowledge and experience with the challenges involved in community reintegration of clients
- Demonstrated competence in individual, group and family therapy
- In‑depth practice in modalities utilizing CBT, DBT and FBT (asset)
- Demonstrated excellent organizational, problem‑solving, decision‑making, conflict resolution and critical thinking abilities
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral / written communication skills
- The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno‑racial and cultural backgrounds; proficiency in a second language is an asset
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the job
- Variable hours may be required due to patient demand
