PURPOSE OF THE POSITION :

Provides active leadership and guidance to the Maintenance and Facilities teams. Oversees the proper resources utilization and performance, mentors and coaches team members to achieve required performance.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensures efficient day-to-day operation of all Maintenance functions. Leads the Maintenance team by setting up clear expectations and holds team accountable on performance and deliverables.
  • Leads the Facilities team on maintaining a properly functioning GMP facility. Sets clear goals for the team and tracks proper plan execution.

Ensures facilities is always within GMP compliance and audit ready.

  • Oversees the Preventive Maintenance and Spare Parts programs of both equipment and facilities within CPL. Provides guidance on program sustainability and improvements to maintain proper business continuity and high corporate performance.
  • Assigns, directs, prioritizes and reviews activities in terms of group resourcing, planning and scheduling. Strategically reviews resource allocation and provides viable recommendations on opportunities to reach corporate goals.
  • Interacts and collaborates with other departments for the purpose of ensuring maintenance and facilities activities are executed as planned.

Works on finding win-win scenarios in all situations when competing priorities exist.

  • Ensures that all areas of responsibility meet regulatory requirements (i.e. cGMP, Health and Safety, Environment), including documentation, training, processes and general working area.
  • Develops and manages all relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI) applicable to the maintenance and facilities teams. Shares performance with the wider team, seeks feedback and defines area of improvement for areas of responsibility.
  • Forecasts and manages budgets, develops and executes short and long-term maintenance plans and facility improvements in alignment with capital budgets.

Plans major maintenance projects and reliability initiatives, and develops capital investment recommendations for the plant.

  • Assists in the planning, development and execution of CPL’s production capacity plans to support current and future business needs.
  • Develops employees by providing coaching, feedback, evaluating performance and expectations, and ensuring that adequate training is provided.
  • Promotes and maintains safe and healthy working conditions in his / her assigned work area; instructs and enforces compliance with established safe work practices and procedures;

ensures assigned trainees receive appropriate training and information necessary to conduct their activities in a safe and healthy manner.

  • Understands OH&S and GMP standards and performance objectives / targets.
  • Assists in the development and / or review of cGMP and EHS Operating Procedures pertaining to the responsibilities and operation of the Maintenance and Facilities teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Minimum post-secondary education in a related field is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of combined management level and pharmaceutical experience in a supervisory / managerial role of similar scope.
  • Deep understanding of key pharmaceutical areas, such as compounding, packaging, facilities management is highly desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of maintenance planning and systems implementation. Exceptional planning, organizational and project-management skills.
  • Strong technical and maintenance background to support various maintenance, engineering and facilities activities. Initiative and self-starting abilities;

willingness to take action to resolve problems.

  • Effective leadership, delegation, coaching and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to motivate team members and facilitate individual work styles.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Computer literacy is required with a strong emphasis on CMMS systems and AutoCAD.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • On call for maintenance and facilities emergencies (back-up).
  • Office based with regular exposure to plant, machine shop and outside environment.
