The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with parents, teachers, and other professionals, and creating a supportive and effective learning environment.
Setting : School
Responsibilities :
Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student's needs.
Provide direct instruction in academic, social, and life skills.
Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet students' needs.
Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths and areas for growth.
Monitor and document student progress.
Adjust instruction based on student performance data.
work closely with general education teachers, therapists, and other school staff.
Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and goals.
Participate in IEP meetings and professional development sessions.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Implement behavior management plans as needed.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
Report to the building principal or special education coordinator.
Interact daily with students, school staff, and parents.
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field.
Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to develop and implement effective IEPs.
Desired Qualifications :
Master’s degree in Special Education.
Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities.
Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive materials.
Ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently.
Licensing and Certification :
Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
