Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Senior Manager, Technical Services role will report to the Vice President, Petrochemical Commercial.
The successful candidate will lead a team of technical experts providing technical support to customers, participating in product development, ensuring product compliance, and stewarding sustainability efforts relating to polymers.
Key Activities and Responsibilities :
The Senior Manager, Technical Services, together with their team is responsible for the following :
- Manage and lead a team of technical experts in the polymer field
- Administer technical assistance to sales team to build and maintain customer confidence & trust
- Provide customer technical support such as attending resin qualification trials, offering processing advice, providing product related training, and troubleshooting expertise
- Customer Claims : Manage and coordinate timely, effective investigation, analysis, resolution of product claims to customers and HPC’s satisfaction
- Provide support and advice on product development initiatives
- Product Regulatory Compliance : Ensure products meet all applicable compliance standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality and performance
- Add support to site laboratory, ensuring effective commercial interface
- Collaborate with operations, sales team to create an optimal grade slate
- Oversee commercial / operating agreements related to the Polypropylene Facility, including licensing, catalyst and additives selection and purchases
- Assess and enhance the environmental impact of polymer products throughout their lifecycle
- Support sustainability strategy initiatives to reduce waste, energy consumption, explore circularity initiatives, product development, and improving overall environmental footprint
- Arrange direction and oversight to planning, budgeting and performance reporting for the applicable cost centers
- External Relationships :
- Develop strong relationships within the North American polymer industry. This includes developing relationships with key suppliers, polypropylene customers, and regulatory officials
- Represent the Heartland Petrochemical Complex business unit as required in discussions at industry associations and conferences
Education, Skills and Experience :
- Doctorate degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the polymer industry
- 15 years previous experience in a similar role / industry
- Strong technical knowledge of polymer products and their applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with sustainable practices and a commitment to integrating them into daily operations
Hours :
Monday Friday, 8 hours per day
Some travel;
