Quality Assurance Technician

Do you have a good eye for detail and work well in a team environment? The QA team measures fruit quality at various stages of plant processing and reports on the conditions in a timely manner to ensure that the product we deliver is of the highest quality.
The QA team is also responsible for assisting the CFIA in performing fruit inspections for pests and collecting representative samples of cherry lots.
No experience is required, but a background working with spreadsheets is considered an asset.
Duties and responsibilities
- Ensure that quality reporting is performed accurately on all samples in a timely manner.
- Take part in Health and Safety training as well as sampling training.
- Sampling fruit in the plant by block / customer & picker.
- Sampling fruit in the cooler.
- CFIA sampling (crushing fruit to inspect for insect larvae)
- Records and reports findings to QA Manager.
- Clean workstations at end of daily duty.
Qualifications
- Experience in Excel and Word
- Good eye for detail and capacity for working with numbers.
- Fluent in English.
- A flexible team player who works well in a busy and demanding environment.
- Ability to pass a background check for Canadian Air Cargo Security Requirements.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following assets
- A background in science, engineering, or math
- Background in statistical coding (Matlab, R, or Python)
- Knowledge of Spanish
Working conditions
Our working environment is extremely challenging over a short period of time. Applicants should be aware that this is a farming environment and days off may be limited during our growing and packing season.
Applicants should be aware that :
- Work hours are dependent on crop maturity and weather.
- Environment varies from outdoors, to the main packing line (10oC), the cooler (0oC), and an office environment.
- The role is agricultural employment and overtime provisions do not apply.
- Be always aware of working area, as machinery and pallet jacks will be in operation around you.
- Applicants must be available from early July until mid- September for this seasonal position.
- The candidate must have the ability to work well with people of varying backgrounds and nationalities.
- Great teamwork environment.

Compensation : $19 - 21 per hour, commensurate with experience
