The Opportunity
The Ward Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of the unit. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to : utilization of OBTV and Meditech data entry on all patients, including admission, transfer and discharge;
ordering of lab specimens; ordering and maintaining supplies; transport functions; answering phones; assembling discharge and assessment charts.
Hours of Work
12-hour shifts; rotating shifts of 07 : 00-19 : 00 and 19 : 00-07 : 00; Monday-Friday and weekends. 70-hours bi-weekly.
Your Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Graduate from a recognized Office Administration Program preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs / technology (testing may be conducted on shortlisted candidates)
- Knowledge of SAP an asset
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology an asset
- Knowledge of Meditech preferred
- Experience using OBTV preferred
- Keyboarding skills minimum of 40 wpm required, 60 wpm is preferred (testing may be conducted on shortlisted candidates)
- Data entry skills required
- Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
- Demonstrated ability to respectfully work with a variety of inter-professional team members required
- High degree of initiative, diligence, attention to detail, and self-discipline / focus
- Commitment to continual learning and willing to share knowledge and support the development of co-workers
- Demonstrated commitment to Family Centred Care required
- Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills required
- Competency in other languages considered an asset
