Job description

Job Title: Azure FinOps SME
Location: Calgary, AB

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Azure FinOps SME to manage and optimize Azure cloud costs, financial forecasting, cost allocation, and governance. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Azure Cost Management, cloud financial analysis, cost optimization, and stakeholder management.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8 12 years of overall professional experience.

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in Cloud FinOps, Azure Cost Management, or cloud cost optimization.

  • Strong experience in Azure cost forecasting, budgeting, financial analysis, and cost allocation.

  • Expertise in cloud cost optimization, Azure Reservations, and Savings Plans.

  • Experience in FinOps governance, reporting, and cost management best practices.

  • Ability to manage senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional FinOps initiatives.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Power BI and advanced Microsoft Excel.

  • Familiarity with Apptio or other cloud financial management tools.

  • Experience with automation and AI-enabled FinOps workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize Azure cloud expenditure.

  • Develop cloud cost forecasts, budgets, and financial reports.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement optimization strategies.

  • Manage cost allocation, chargeback/showback, and financial governance.

  • Optimize cloud spending through Reservations, Savings Plans, and resource utilization analysis.

  • Collaborate with cloud engineering, finance, and business teams to improve cost efficiency.

  • Present FinOps insights, recommendations, and performance metrics to senior stakeholders.

  • Drive continuous improvement through automation and FinOps best practices.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must have 8 12 years of overall experience, including at least 4 years in Azure FinOps or cloud cost management.

  • Must be available to work in a hybrid model in Calgary, AB.

  • Must be eligible for full-time permanent employment in Canada.
