Commercial Litigation Lawyer

A well-established Calgary law firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation & Insurance Lawyer with 3-7 years of experience to join its growing litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience in private practice or an in-house legal department who enjoys handling sophisticated commercial and insurance-related matters in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal analysis and strategic advice on insurance defense and insurance coverage matters.

• Conduct legal research and prepare thorough written opinions.

• Draft pleadings, motion materials, factums, mediation briefs, and pre-trial memoranda.

• Prepare correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.

• Prepare for and attend examinations for discovery, mediations, and other litigation proceedings.

• Represent clients in court on motions and other adjudicative hearings.

• Participate in Alberta and Canadian Bar Association events to support professional development and business growth.

• Assist with practice management responsibilities and other firm initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of experience in commercial litigation, insurance defense, insurance coverage, or related litigation matters.

• Experience gained in private practice or an in-house legal environment.

• Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and client relationship abilities.

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta (or eligible for admission).

Compensation

Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 CAD, depending on experience, plus a competitive benefits package and bonus potential.
