About the Company

Established in 2005, the organisation provides environmental and geotechnical consulting and monitoring services to the infrastructure construction and land development industries.

The company works with contractors, developers, municipalities, government agencies, and other stakeholders, providing services including groundwater monitoring, settlement monitoring, water quality, excess soils, environmental monitoring, and ecological assessments.

The company is looking for an experienced Project Manager who understands both construction project delivery and environmental consulting, can effectively bridge the two, and deliver projects from start to finish.

About the Role

As a Project Manager, you will take ownership of projects from award through completion. Reporting to the Director of Client Services, you will be responsible for managing the commercial, client, financial, and operational aspects of multiple projects while coordinating with technical experts and field teams.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has experience in the construction environment and understands how projects operate in the field, while also having exposure to environmental consulting or monitoring.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, communicating directly with clients, and taking ownership of project outcomes.

What You'll Do

1. Own End-to-End Project Delivery

• Deliver projects on time, on budget, and to the organization's quality standards, ensuring all obligations are met under established project processes.
• Translate client goals and environmental obligations into executable scopes aligned with standardized workflows.

2. Client Relationship & Communication

• Serve as the primary client contact from award to closeout, maintaining proactive communication, transparency, and trust.
• Uphold the organization's 4-hour response commitment, acknowledging and responding to all client inquiries within four hours.

3. Financial Management & Accountability

• Own project P&L, tracking budgets, change orders, invoicing, and accounts receivable in coordination with Finance and Operations.
• Ensure target gross margin is achieved through disciplined scope management and proactive risk identification.

4. Team Coordination & Leadership

• Lead and align all internal delivery partners; Operations Leads, SMEs (subject matter experts), Analysts, and Coordinators—to achieve efficient, standardized execution.
• Drive accountability through clear expectations, communication, and coordination across departments.

5. Scope Control & Risk Management

• Identify and escalate risks, delays, or resource constraints early to the Program Manager or Director.
• Manage scope changes through formal documentation and communication with clients and internal teams.

6. Quality & Compliance Oversight

• Ensure all deliverables meet regulatory standards, the organization's two-signature QA/QC policy, and SOPs.
• Promote and model a strong Health & Safety culture, maintaining required training and certifications.

7. Reporting & Documentation

• Oversee preparation and delivery of reports, data dashboards, and regulatory submissions using standardized templates and digital systems.
• Ensure accurate field-to-office handoffs and documentation within the organization's project management systems.

8. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Program Managers, Operations, and Sales to ensure seamless client experience, pipeline visibility, and efficient resource allocation.
• Support proposal development and continuous improvement of scoping and estimating practices.

9. System & Process Discipline

• Utilize the organization's digital project management tools for scheduling, reporting, and communication to ensure data integrity and visibility.
• Contribute to the evolution of standardized workflows and participate in system improvement initiatives.

10. Professional & Cultural Leadership

• Model the organization's core values and contribute to a collaborative, accountable, customer-focused workplace.
• Mentor junior staff, share lessons learned, and help cultivate a values-driven, performance-based culture.

11. Other Duties

• Perform any other reasonable activity required by management/leadership.

What We're Looking For

Required

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Instrumentation Technology, Environmental Technology, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of project management experience in construction, civil/mechanical engineering, water/wastewater, environmental technology, or related fields.
• Experience working in a contracting environment.
• Experience managing project budgets and P&L (Profit and Loss).
• Experience managing client relationships and working directly with clients.
• Experience with change orders, scope management, and project risk management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong numerical and commercial skills, with attention to project margins and financial performance.
• Valid driver's license.

Assets

The following qualifications and experience would be considered strong assets:

• Experience in settlement monitoring, soil reuse/excess soils or hydrogeology.
• 1-2 years of prior experience in environmental consulting.
• Previous experience supervising or managing people.

Work Environment

The company operates from Concord and Ottawa offices, and the successful candidate may work from either location.This position follows a hybrid work arrangement, with employees generally working from the office Tuesday through Thursday, while Monday and Friday are optional office days.

While the role is primarily office-based, occasional and infrequent visits to project sites may be required.

The Concord office is dog-friendly, with a small number of dogs typically present in the workplace.
