Role: Site Engineering - Commissioning Coordination
Develop Commissioning Plans then coordinate testing/commissioning and assure that the outages people and documentation are in place to execute the test program for Campbell River projects.
Location of Services: Campbell River BC - 2-5 days a week on site

Role OverviewThe E4 Engineer is a Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist responsible for delivering engineering estimating planning and quality management services for medium-complexity generation station projects and operations. This role plays a key part in the construction and commissioning of electrical and Protection & Control (P&C) systems ensuring projects are completed safely with quality on time and within budget.
The successful candidate will apply sound engineering judgment lead field engineering efforts coordinate multi-disciplinary commissioning activities and provide technical oversight to ensure compliance with engineering standards and industry best practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Technical Leadership
Develop safe and effective engineering solutions for medium-complexity assignments.
Interpret engineering specifications resolve design issues and conduct independent technical studies and analysis.
Provide technical guidance to design engineers contractors and field teams.
Contribute to engineering practice development including technical standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
Commissioning & Field EngineeringPrepare and compile multi-disciplinary commissioning test plans and requirements documentation.
Develop Commissioning Plans and coordinate testing/commissioning activities for Campbell River projects.
Oversee technical aspects of field engineering for new electrical and P&C installations including:
SwitchgearPower transformers and reactive equipment
Electrical protection systems
Unit control and monitoring systems
Communication networksInstrumentation systems
Support Field Testers and Communications Protection and Control (CPC) Technologists.
Perform field reviews for electrical and P&C installations and modifications.
Conduct first-level quality assurance to ensure compliance with drawings specifications and industry standards.
Prepare review and accept Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) plans
Coordinate witness and hold points for critical components and document field review records.
Support fault analysis and technical investigations.
Project & Construction SupportAssist project and operations management in achieving safety cost quality and schedule targets.
Propose plan and cost changes where appropriate.
Recommend contractor payments and prepare progress reports.
Coordinate outages schedules and commissioning resources.
Organize and synthesize technical documentation (RFIs redlines NCRs) into construction reports.
Coordinate special testing requirements and operating procedures on integrated systems.
Manage multiple projects and project resources effectively.
Support estimating cost control and project administration activities.
Qualifications & ExperienceEducation & RegistrationRegistered Professional Engineer (.) or Professional Geoscientist (.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or eligible for registration.
Minimum eight (8) years of relevant engineering experience.
Must maintain a valid OFA Level 1 certification for the duration of employment.
Professional Practice RequirementsMust hold a valid Permit to Practice (P2P) through EGBC (sole practitioner or firm-based).
Work will be conducted under BC Hydros Professional Practice Management Plan Quality Management Pillar.
The Registrant must apply their own or their firms Permit to Practice number to sealed work.
All project documentation will be retained by BC Hydro in accordance with EGBC bylaws.
Familiarity with digital sign and seal technology (e.g. Notarius) is required or willingness to subscribe.
Required Skills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of Protection & Control (P&C) testing and commissioning best practices.
Experience in field engineering environments.
Experience in fault analysis and technical investigations.
Ability to resolve complex technical and field engineering challenges independently.
Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to find engineering solutions that add value and build consensus.
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
Project management experience including estimating cost control and administration.
Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards
Proficiency with industry-standard design and analysis software.
Intermediate MS Office skills (Word Excel PowerPoint).
Intermediate English communication skills (written and spoken).
