Position Description:
We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer with 3+ years of experience to join our Agile team and contribute to building scalable, high-performance backend systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Databricks and Azure Data Factory, along with experience in developing APIs and working with modern cloud-based architectures.
This is a hybrid role, requiring 2–3 days per week onsite at one of the following locations: Halifax, NS; Fredericton, NB; Moncton, NB; Stratford, PEI; or St. John’s, NL.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code following best practices.
• Build and manage databases, data models, and system integrations.
• Ensure application performance, security, and responsiveness.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing systems.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing components.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards.
• Document technical designs and system architecture.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of backend development experience.
• Mandatory: Strong experience with Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Nice to Have
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Familiarity with security best practices and authentication protocols (OAuth, JWT).

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55,–$,. This role is an existing vacancy.
