The Opportunity
Build the Future of Materials Engineering

You'll be at the center of our growing Materials Engineering practice, shaping WSP's presence across British Columbia, Canada, and globally. Bringing deep technical expertise in concrete and construction materials, you'll also act as a trusted advisor to clients, industry partners, and internal teams.

This role blends high-impact project delivery, business development leadership, and mentoring, giving you influence over both the growth of our Vancouver practice and the development of the next generation of materials engineers. Working closely with the Materials Engineering Manager, you'll help set strategic priorities, expand our client base, and contribute to some of BC's most meaningful infrastructure projects.
Your Impact
  • Deliver materials engineering consulting services across industrial, commercial, municipal, transportation, and residential projects in BC, Canada, and globally.
  • Lead technical work in concrete, aggregates, asphalt pavement, durability, soils, and condition assessments.
  • Prepare and review specifications, contract documents, proposals, and technical reports.
  • Develop and validate concrete mix designs, pavement designs, structural repair strategies, and mass concrete thermal mitigation solutions.
  • Perform and oversee non-destructive evaluation, service-life modelling, and durability assessments of concrete structures.
  • Support business growth through client engagement, proposal development, industry participation, and mentoring junior engineers.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Materials Engineering with a focus on construction materials; a Master's or Ph.D. is an asset.
  • 10+ years of materials engineering experience in Canada, with British Columbia experience considered a strong asset.
  • Deep technical expertise in concrete design, condition assessment, rehabilitation, and materials testing to CSA and ASTM standards.
  • Proven ability to independently lead complex technical assignments while balancing client, schedule, and budget priorities.
  • Demonstrated business development capability, including client management, proposal leadership, and industry networking.
  • Registered P.Eng. with EGBC (or eligible), with a valid BC Driver's License and ability to work in varied field conditions.
