Lead the Mechanical Equipment Maintenance Services team (Millwrights and Apprentices) to ensure processing and packaging equipment is maintained for safety, compliance, optimum uptime and business continuity. Schedule, andsupervisedaily, team(s) activities to ensure deadlines are being maintained. Manage the engagement, performance and development of team members.Continuously monitor areas to ensure Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety standards are met and adhered to. Ensure Preventative and Predictive maintenance procedures are evolved to ensure optimum effectiveness of the PM program.Participate and support regulatory inspections.

Day in the Life:

• Manage Team Performance

• Communicate job expectations and lead daily team huddles to ensure On Time Delivery (OTD)and Right First Time.

• Plan, monitor and appraise job results for quality and efficiency.

• Plan and monitorteam work to minimize over time.

• Prioritizeunplanned & planned work with Maintenance planner.

• Verifythe qualifications of personnel and recommendstraining as needed; ensuresall personnel have been adequately trained on equipment and procedures and that proper documentation practices are followed.

• Conduct Performance Managementand Development(PMD) with staff.

• Coach, counsel andmanageemployeeperformance.

• LeadPPI(continuous improvement) initiatives.

• Maintain Regulatory Compliance:

• Enforce regulations to ensure “license to operate”;ensureprocessing equipment and systems are kept and operated in a GMP and statutory compliant state.

• Ensure all planned maintenance is according to the manufacturers’ recommendations and to an approved schedule.

• Adhere to all approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Ensure staff trained and qualified for duty.

• Prepare for and participatesas a Subject Matter Expert (SME) during regulatory audits.

• Manage the investigation process and ensure deviations are properly documented.

• Ensure CAPAs, deviations and follow-up actions are completed within the required timeline.

• Ensure all reports adhere to EH&S rules and regulations and work in a safe manner.

• Participate and support regulatory inspections.

• EnsuresMaximum Asset Availability and Optimization:

• Ensure quality of work and that work is completed in a safe and efficient manner.

• Ensure equipment availability and performance is adequate to ensure OTD and RFT.

• Champion proactive maintenance vs. reactive maintenance.

• Collaborate with plant or production to ensure first-line maintenance is being performed by operators where applicable.

• Review work planning and scheduling with planner, inform the maintenance planner/team leader of routine preventative maintenance requirements.

• Develop maintenance routines following the manufacturers’ recommendations.

• Reviewandimplement improvements to existing preventive and predicative maintenance programs for optimal effectiveness.

• Recommend procedural changes and efficiency improvements for maintenance activities.

• Establish, maintain and report oncritical metricsthat represent the performance of the maintenance systems and assets.

• Analyze systems for energy usage and implement efficiency improvements.

• Maintain Documentation - Plant, Property and Equipment Asset

• Prepare/Revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Participate in the change control process.

• Follow change, review drawings/documents and revising as necessary.

• Ensure plant logs and all Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) data collected is accurate and complete.

• Schedule/monitor/coordinateproject workand directs external contractors.

• Maintain Professional and Technical Knowledgeby attendingeducational workshops, reviewingprofessional publications,establishingpersonal networks, participatingin professional societies.

• Promote a safe working environment, report potentialhazardsand ensure all direct reports follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.

• Select,developand evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Work with andadvisestaff on administrative policies and procedures.

• Perform alternating or rotating shift work (asrequired).

Keys to success:

Education:

Minimum High School Diploma and Licensed tradesman in either of the followingfields: Mechanical, Electrical

Bachelor of Engineering or Science ( or equivalent would be an asset

Experience:

Minimum 7 yearspreviousequipment maintenanceexperiencein pharmaceutical, cosmetic or food manufacturing industry - pharmaceutical experience preferred.

Minimum 3years’ experiencein a supervisory/leadership role

Experience in operating a 24/7 operation preferred

Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities:

Excellentknowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). Sound knowledge of processing and packaging systems. Sound judgment, decision making and trouble shooting skills.Sound knowledge of Safety standards and statutory requirements for facilities. Excellent communication skills as well as proven interpersonal abilities.Proficiency using Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CMMS. Data analysis, problem definition & solving skills.Knowledgeable in specific RCM and predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermography and infrared tools and techniques, lubrication, machinery alignment, etc.).Proficiency with the English language.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about manufacturing/office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity; visual acuity to operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, loud noise, bright lights, fumes or odour. Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator.
