The Project Estimator is located in Pickering and typically reports directly to the Director of Proposals & Commercial Management. Their primary focus is to lead the bid team in development of proposals for engineering, procurement and multi-trade construction projects within the Power Generation Sector, including mechanical, electrical, structural and civil scopes. This role involves coordinating cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with tender specifications, and driving the end-to-end bid process to secure successful project outcomes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the planning, development and submission of project bids in response to client RFPs.
• Develop and execute a project strategy that meets the project's required performance, schedule, and profitability targets.
• Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.
• Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations.
• Lead site review, tender review, tender hand-off, project closing and operational / sector meetings with the Director of Proposals & Commercial Management, Project Manager, and Purchasing as required.
• Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Assist in scope development and subcontractor evaluations.
• Identify labour, equipment, material, time requirements, and technical specifications.
• Assist with the development of WBS and schedules.
• Conduct quantity take-off estimates based on engineering drawings and specifications to compute labour and material costs to support budget development and change management.
• Documents all information relating to the estimate, archives and organizes such information to turnover to the project team upon successful award.
• Travel to various sites or clients to undertake the above.

COMPENSATION

The expected salary range for this role is between $90,000 / annually and $126,000 / annually. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education, experience and overall competencies. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual performance bonus, and career development programs.
