Job description
Overview
At KPMG in Canada, our people bring their unique perspectives to Canada's most important challenges. Here, you can build momentum that reaches beyond our business, develop skills for the future, and take ownership of your career with support at every stage. Join a firm where your career can make a difference.

KPMG's dynamic and growing National M&A Tax practice helps clients navigate the complex tax landscape of inbound and outbound mergers and acquisitions. Our experienced professionals provide strategic tailored advice and practical support across the full deal lifecycle-from due diligence and structuring to post-deal integration.

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager to join our collaborative team and contribute to delivering high-quality tax solutions that drive value for our clients. This is your opportunity to work with Canada's leading deal makers to find, prove, and maximize value. KPMG provides the opportunity to collaborate with leading experts in the field, enhance your skills, and contribute to complex, high-impact projects.

What you will do
  • Lead and manage tax due diligence engagements, identifying tax exposures, mitigation strategies and tax efficiency opportunities
  • Advise on structuring acquisitions, dispositions, spin-offs, and joint ventures to optimize tax outcomes
  • Provide tax comments to transaction documents to ensure appropriate tax considerations are accurately reflected and addressed
  • Develop tax models to evaluate transactions
  • Support vendor-side tax planning, including pre-sale analysis and carve-out strategies
  • Perform transaction cost analysis and provide other support relating to the implementation of the transaction
  • Guide clients through post-deal integration, addressing risks and accessing opportunities
  • Collaborate with KPMG's global network to support cross-border transactions and leverage international expertise

What you bring to the role
  • CPA designation
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in tax, with significant exposure to M&A transactions
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian tax legislation and M&A tax issues
  • Strong analytical, research and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead client engagements in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build strong client relationships
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and mentoring team members
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with tax developments
  • Proficiency with tax technology tools and data-driven approaches
