LOCATION

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH is a vibrant community hospital delivering a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services.

Directly serving a growing population of more than 60,000 residents spread across a mix of urban and rural settings, NHH directly employs approximately 750 people and relies on the additional support provided by a highly engaged and supportive network of physicians, midwives and volunteers.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the IT Systems Analyst is responsible for participating in and leading key projects that support our Service Desk and core organizational functions and business processes.

This mid to senior role will also help support our infrastructure landscape and play a key role in network and system monitoring as required to ensure timely responses to critical issues following policies and processes that are compliant with industry standards (ITIL).

These functions are performed in accordance with the strategic plan, philosophy, and values of NHH and include analysis and implementation of regional integration strategies alongside our partner hospitals, health care agencies and potential partners in the public or private sectors along with following legislation including specific regulations related to the role.

In addition to the above, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities :

  • Technical Lead for Service Desk and Fleet management as part of the lifecycle (procurement, deployment, support, decommissioning)
  • Shared responsibility for the upkeep and safeguarding of our infrastructure in partnership with the other team members, e.

g., servers, storage, databases, backups.

  • Support system and security monitoring; monitors and keeps appropriate logs and error statistics regarding system or security alerts and ensures quick problem resolution to maintain secure, and reliable operation.
  • Participates in the development of the overall IT operational strategy and plays a key role in end user support across the organization.
  • Coaching and mentoring of junior team members; provide training as necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service support, issue investigation / escalation, coordinating, and supporting applications as required.
  • Experience with ServiceDesk Ticketing System; managing and prioritizing requests
  • Subject matter expertise to assist in definition of work assignments, device and system configuration, and development of standards for equipment deployment, patching and system documentation.
  • Participates in projects in various capacities e.g. as lead or member, with various size projects from small to medium complexity;

and responsible for delivery of key assignments ensuring adequate resourcing.

  • Participate in all phases of the system lifecycle including requirements gathering, analysis, solution design, development, data flow, implementation, integration, testing, training, support, and maintenance.
  • Collaboratively works with the regional Change Advisory Board (CAB) and a local CAB to deploy all technical change requests in accordance with regional and local policies and procedures.
  • Work with regional & community partners, other department staff and vendors as required.
  • Maintains skills / knowledge by attending educational sessions and keeping informed of healthcare policies & procedures, healthcare, and technology trends.
  • Assists in the evaluation and recommendations for department expenditures.
  • Follows safe and healthy work practices whilst maintaining a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at education programs, use of established reporting mechanisms for injuries, illnesses and hazards, and adherence to health and safety related policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other functions as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree from a recognized education program in information technology, or equivalent work experience and certifications.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in systems administration role in a complex, customer-facing, IT environment, preferably in the Health Sector.
  • Additional technical training and / or certification including MSCE, HP & EMC an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency with computer databases, spreadsheets, MS Office 365, and other electronic healthcare software.
  • Hands-on experience with LANs / WANs, network administration (layer 1-2) and computer operations administration.
  • Experience in virtualization technologies, storage, and systems administration is an asset.
  • Experience in backup and patch management technologies is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of technologies such as Active Directory, DNS, and the ability to join a computer to a domain (required).
  • Experience with VPN, firewall (Palo Alto) and security certificates is an asset.
  • Previous experience working with Epic system is an asset.
  • A good understanding of cyber security concepts, compliance standards, best practice systems and threat hunting technologies is an asset.
  • Experience and knowledge of networking and related hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, servers, etc.).
  • Previous experience with security and compliance standards and best practice.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships with staff across departments (peers), and with team members.
  • Basic understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Experience working in agile delivery models preferred.

  • Strong business-to-technology translation documentation skills are essential for identifying ways to apply solutions to current gaps.
  • Good understanding of risk management, privacy, e-safety, and quality assurance methodologies as they relate to integration / software engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be self-directed.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire.

This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
