The Series Lead is charged with the planning of the work for an entire series. They are accountable to assure that the series is planned and that the technical and process requirements are well understood and documented by construction. They are a person of significant experience who has done the work in their series before. They report to the Integration Manager for the purposes of their function and the applicable Area Manager directly for day‑to‑day activities and scope planning.
Responsibilities
- Plan the series and specifically defined scopes of work, encompassing large numbers of Comprehensive Work Packages.
- Ensure that the CWPs being developed and marshalled by the Project Coordinators and Field Engineers meet all design and technical requirements and are as simple and executable as possible.
- Prepare and verify workplans in cooperation with construction leads.
- Schedule tasks for Owner support as required.
- Ensure TCR / MOU and supporting documentation is in place to support modification install.
- Assure that all Construction, Inspection and Test Plans (CITPs) in a series meet all design and technical requirements and are understandable by construction field leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all requirements for fabrication, installation, construction of modifications including those in CSA N286.3 and CAN / CSA‑N285.06.
- Collaborate with engineering and construction to sustain the linkage between design, constructability and execution.
- Maintain documentation and QA / QC execution and RTS efforts.
- Oversee the execution of CITPs and work sequencing.
- Serve as the closest point to the front line for look‑ahead and planning around look‑ahead processes.
- Ask for and assure that all QA / QC resources are available to support Project Execution.
- Identify, report and secure approval for deviations from the design documents before release to construction.
- Support the CSS by directing construction activities in accordance with written and approved policy, standards, programs and applicable procedures.
- Maintain high standards of final product quality and consistently require conformance from staff and subcontractors.
- Work within the established budget for all assigned resources, ensuring sufficient staff is available to support the assigned work, and assist in disposition of variances from budgets.
- Participate in assessing and delivering training needs.
- Accountable for technical support, leadership, production targets and success of assigned RFR Scope.
- Provide technical strategic support and advice on shift.
- Act as the first line of escalation, coordinating the escalation to the Area Manager.
- Provide and ensure the effectiveness of the liaison function between field trades and design engineers for problem resolution and information flow.
- Establish and maintain interfaces with other internal groups, subcontractors and suppliers supporting the project.
Qualifications
Engineering Degree or Engineering Technology diploma.3+ years of experience with nuclear engineering, modification, maintenance and construction projects.Sound knowledge of engineering principles and processes associated with nuclear generation facilities.Construction Work Package assembly experience.Knowledge of OPG work and configuration management systems considered an asset (Passport / Asset Suite).Knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and I&C systems specific to Retube and Feeder Replacement is an asset.Containment Isolations, Retube and Feeder Replacement, or Single Fuel Channel Replacement considered an asset.Cultural Guiding Principles
