FINANCIAL ANALYST INTERN (Co-op / New Grad)

ABOUT THIS ROLE

We have an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in our Regulatory Affairs department as a Financial Analyst Intern for a duration of (1) year.

In this role, you are responsible for supporting the management team decision process through presentation of financial and regulatory information as well as providing reliable information and analysis, on a timely basis.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the preparation and project management of regulatory filings to the Ontario Energy Board (OEB)
  • Provide support to rate case submissions and subsequent OEB filing requirements
  • Prepare ad hoc research on regulations, applications, decisions and other documents submitted to or issued by the OEB
  • Support regulatory reporting and record-keeping requirements (reliability, service quality, etc.)
  • Support compliance with legislative, regulatory and health & safety policies, procedures and standards
  • Liaise with other departments to forecast progress and prepare required reports and analysis for application evidence
  • Provide reporting for consolidation and presentation to Senior Management and the Finance team
  • Support continuous improvement and productivity initiatives within the overall financial function (Regulatory Affairs, Capital Planning, Supply Chain and Finance)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Enrolled in or completed Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or other quantitative discipline
  • Working towards CPA designation an asset
  • Co-op, or new graduates with up to 3 years of experience in an analytical role

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and excellent analytical and time management skills
  • Ability to perform detailed reconciliations and numerical analysis
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and must have intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Team player with superior interpersonal skills; a good work ethic with a positive approach to work and co-workers
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Self-starter, willing to learn, adapt to new technologies, flexible when situations change, able to work in an ambiguous environment, treats others in a professional manner that promotes a safe and respectful workplace
  • Experience using Workiva’s WDesk’ platform is an asset
  • Excellent attendance record
