Reporting to the Chief Estimator, the Junior Estimator will be responsible for providing estimating services to support the Project Development and Estimating departments.
Field experience is foundational for a career in estimating. If required, the successful candidate will be given an opportunity in the future to work as a Project Coordinator in our Operations team for + / -2 years.
This will allow you to learn more about Clark Builders as a whole, and to become a more well-rounded Estimator.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities :
Monitor tender documents and facilitate their distribution to subtrades / suppliers as required.
Contribute to maintaining contractors / suppliers’ relations.
Assist in maintaining various databases.
Prepare accurate and complete estimates.
Assist in the preparation of proposals and estimates for final approvals prior to their presentation to potential Clients and at bid closing.
Take part in project team meetings.
Follow up with invited subtrades / supplier to confirm their intentions to quote.
Maintain sub-trade / supplier contact information.
Support Estimators with quantity take-offs and other tasks as required.
Follow standard estimating procedures, utilize software systems provided.
Attend tender openings as required.
Junior Estimators will be mentored by the Senior Team.
Maintain career progression plan.
Attend training courses as required by team leaders.
Adhere to Clark Builders’ policies and procedures.
Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge :
A Post-Secondary Certificate / Degree in Engineering, or the equivalent of a designated Professional Engineer or a Technical School graduate in a Construction-related discipline.
Minimum of 1 year of construction or related experience
Ability to manage multiple workflows and tasks concurrently.
Ability to prioritize workflows.
Ability to manage deadlines for completion of assigned tasks.
Comfortable working in a team environment.
Adapt to changing job requirements and directions from multiple sources.
Knowledge of construction scheduling basics.
Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs both manually and electronically.
Communicate professionally through verbal and written methods.
Attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficient computer skills, database application skills, Microsoft suite of applications, and collaboration tools
