Senior Electrical Engineer, Protection

Technical responsibilities :

• Execute day to day technical and strategic mandates based on areas of expertise and in coordination with BBA's internal disciplines located across Canada
• Deliver protection and design solutions : Equipment and Design specifications, detail design, vendor bid evaluation, factory acceptance testing, vendor drawing review
• Develop HV / MV designs : single lines, layouts, BOMs, schematics, wiring
• Relay design, settings, configurations for various applications (line, transformer, cap banks, etc.)
• Perform system studies : short circuit, load flow, interconnection, protection, etc.
• Provide expertise and guidance to both BBA's clients and project teams
• Conduct technical reviews and oversee engineering and design activities.

Projectmanagement responsibilities :

• Lead various design phases of projects : proposal development, design development, design basis, detail design
• Mentor junior engineers
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders in the renewables, industrial and utility sectors across Canada and abroad
• Provide exposure to potential new clients and expand relationships with existing clients
• Support execution of BBA strategy and action plan

Overview of certifications and job requirements

Electrical Engineering degree and registered as a Professional in Canada

Or :

• A suitable combination of qualification(s) in a relevant field and applicable experience
• 12 years of experience, specializing in Protection Engineering
• Experience within large industrial, power generation and utility sectors
• Demonstrated experience with different vendors and different protection schemes
• Strong communications, interpersonal and relationship building skills
• A demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and challenges
• Proven knowledge of project management practices
• Working knowledge of electrical design standards (CSA, IEEE, ANSI / IEC)
