Armour Transportation Systems is currently seeking a Dispatch Supervisor to join our team in Moncton, NB..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Delegate and prioritize pick-up of freight to ensure movement of freight to outer terminals can be done efficiently.
  • Communicate with Operations Manager when required to ensure quality decisions.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the dispatch department, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of goods.
  • Coordinate with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers to schedule and track shipments.
  • Utilize transportation management systems to optimize routes and minimize costs.
  • Communicate with carriers and freight forwarders to arrange pickups and deliveries.
  • Analyze data and reports to identify areas for improvement in dispatch processes.
  • Train and supervise dispatch team members, providing guidance and support.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, including tracking information and delivery confirmation.

Education and Experience Criteria :

Minimum of two years’ experience in the transportation and logistics industry or a related field, or a combination of relevant work experience and education.

For example, CITT Supply Chain and Logistics Certification or other relevant college degree or certification.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a dispatch role.
  • Previous experience supervising others is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the road transportation industry, including Atlantic Canadian geography and travel times, is considered an asset.

Technical Skills :

  • Computer literacy and a strong understanding of Microsoft Office are required.
  • Experience and understanding of the TruckMate system are considered an asset.

Working Conditions :

  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven terminal / office environment.
  • Ability to work variable shifts when required (days, nights, weekends, holidays) and longer shifts to cover gaps.
  • There is a high volume of communication via email, phone, and satellite.
