Your opportunity :
Reporting to the Executive Director, Student Experience and working closely with the Student Life leadership team, the Manager, Assessment & Analysis (Manager) is responsible for identifying, recommending, and implementing strategic and collaborative initiatives across the St. George Campus and, where appropriate, with partners at UTSC and UTM, designed to assess and enhance student experience at the University of Toronto. The incumbent provides leadership to the Division of Student Life in developing, assessing, and re-evaluating learning outcomes and performance measures as identified within the Division and throughout the University. The Manager is also responsible for developing data monitoring, statistical analysis, report writing and resulting recommendations related to student experience, student services, and transition and support programs. The incumbent will be responsible for examining impacts of programs, services, and activities that support and enhance the educational experiences of a diverse student population.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Managing administration of university-wide student experience surveys. Running queries to gather data
- Analyzing complex statistical reports and / or financial information for management decision-making
- Producing complex statistical information
- Assessing and determining methodologies for data retrieval and manipulation
- Designing presentations and visualizations of data analysis findings
- Identifying and resolving systemic data integrity issues
- Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and / or initiatives
- Updating and maintaining documented queries, analyses and reports. Providing leadership and building capacity in advancing a culture of assessment.
Essential Qualifications :
Master's Degree in higher education, with an emphasis on quantitative and qualitative research methodologies (including statistics) in a student affairs / services context or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum five years of relevantexperience with data management & analysis, preferably within a higher education (student affairs and services), related public sector or market research environment.Experience conducting statistical studies and presenting the results in both written and presentation form.Experience designing and analyzing web based surveys, writing database queries to extract data from a relational database, preparing and presenting reports for senior management, completing systematic literature searches and summaries.Familiarity and experience with qualitative research methodologies (interviews, focus groups, etc.).Experience with regression analyses, factor analyses and correlation studies.Experience in leading collaborative teams.Strong technical skills : advanced knowledge of the structure and meaning of student data housed in various systems. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Excel and specialized statistical applications such as SAS or SPSS and experience withSQL is required, intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint and Word. Understanding of a Student Information System or other complex relational database. Understanding and experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau.Ability to carry outa variety of descriptive and inferential statistical analysis including regression analysis and other techniques. Ability to independently formulate and test hypotheses concerning data in the context of student programs and services.Strong knowledge of student affairs and services. Knowledge of student development theories and other related theories.Strong interaction skills : oral and written communication skills to explain complex statistical analysis to decision makers, probe for information to establish needs and respond to requests, and communicate data query requirements to other analysts. Comfort in speaking with students, staff and faculty at all levels of the University.Strong interpersonal skills : ability to work independently or as part of a team, demonstrates initiative, creativity, curiosity, and attention to detail balanced by ability to see the big picture. Ability to work in a highly diverse University community and to organize, motivate and work constructively and cooperatively with a variety of partners.Effective problem solving and ability to judge whether results of data analysis make sense in the context of the business function.Ability to exercise patience, tact, judgement and discretion. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.Excellent analytical and interpretive skills. Ability to perform tasks with great precision and attention to many details at a time.Superior organizational skills.
