About the Opportunity
The Manager of Clinical and Operational Support will work collaboratively with provincial and operational leaders and staff within NSH CCP, as well as services and programs external to cancer care (e.
g. Performance & Analytics, Quality & System Performance, IM / IT) to support program strategic priorities, projects and innovations.
A primary focus of this role is the reporting of operational data to inform program priorities; as well as analyzing existing practices / processes;
identifying opportunities for improvement; supporting operational leaders to implement and evaluate process changes and improvements.
Accountabilities
Planning and System Performance :
- Accountable for operational data collection, reporting and analysis to support provincial Cancer Care Program priorities
- Ensures accuracy and quality of operational data
- Provides regular overview and analysis of data for NSH CCP Leadership Team, Cancer Site Team Leadership, and operational leaders
- Promotes and facilitates the use of operational information to achieve improved outcomes / system performance
- Leads / supports service delivery projects / initiatives
- Plans, coordinates and monitors progress on assigned projects
- In collaboration with the Project Officer(s), develops and maintains processes for keeping projects on track
- Communicates any problems and / or barriers to meet deliverables within excepted timeframe and offers solutions on how to resolve problems and / or remove barriers
Quality Service Delivery :
- In consultation with key stakeholders, analyses current state and identifies gaps and opportunities for improvements, and makes recommendations for future stat
- Leads and supports process redesign of workflows to improve efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery
- Participates on the NSCCP Interdisciplinary Quality Improvement and Safety Council, and sub committees / councils as appropriate
- Works with NSH CCP leaders and system stakeholders to identify key system performance indicators, and ensures the ongoing production and maintenance of indicators, including support for development and maintenance of a dashboard of key performance indicators
Engagement, Visible Leadership, Partnerships and Relationships
- Participates in NSH CCP Manager / Director meetings
- Contributes to professional literature through publications, reports and reviews
- Links with leaders within NSH CCP, NSH and oncology programs in other provinces to improve Nova Scotia’s program
- Provides support to funded inter-provincial collaborative projects (e.g. through CPAC)
Talent, Development and Employee Engagement
Provides mentoring to leadership and staff regarding operational data integrity, reporting and use for business decisions and program / process improvement;
indicator development; operational data analysis and reporting
Direct supervision of staff, and contracted employees and students, as assigned to this position
Financial Stewardship and Accountability
- Administers an assigned budget and provides regular projections of expenditures
- Works with system stakeholders to identify and implement financial mitigation strategies (e.g. efficiencies in scheduling practices)
- In collaboration with the Manager of Registry and Analytics and Performance Excellence, liaises, develops and maintains data access applications and data sharing agreements with providers, key partners and clients
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following :
- Health Care Degree or Bachelor of Administration / Health Services Administration or equivalent. (Equivalent combination of academic qualification and leadership / data / project management-based experience will be considered)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, or commitment to complete within 2 years of hire is an asset
- Demonstrated five years of experience in independently managed projects and processes to support and advance goals of the cancer care program and the organization.
- Leadership experience in Healthcare
- Familiarity with cancer scheduling and registration processes, and clinical workflows
- Familiarity with health information data systems, holdings and organizations (e.g. CIHI, Discharge Abstract Database, National Ambulatory Care Reporting System, PAR NS)
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles of health system management including financial, organizational privacy, data access and associated laws and regulations.
- Experience with quality indicator selection and monitoring
- Relevant experience in program development, partnership facilitation, team-building and communication (written and oral) skills
- Ability to develop and maintain networks at local and national levels
- Ability to build consensus among stakeholders and mobilize stakeholders to support a common vision
- Effective analytical, critical thinking, planning and evaluation skills
- Proven ability to work well with a broad variety of stakeholders and ability to maintain relations with individuals and organizations
- Excellent organizational and process management skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and meet timelines and to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently in a team environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of various computer software programs in the area of spreadsheets, databases, word processing, Visio, Microsoft Project, Excel, SharePoint, Tableau, Smart Sheets
Hours
- This is a temporary, full time position from July 18, to March 31, (dates are approximate and subject to change)
- 75 hours bi-weekly
- This opportunity is a remote opportunity, requiring you to live in Nova Scotia
Compensation and Incentives
$42.94 - $53.67 hourly ( $83, - $, annually)
