About Us
The Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) Division at the Department of Public Works (PW) is responsible for the administration of drivers and vehicles in the province. We are responsible for the policies, legislation, and regulations that guide Road Safety and operate in a proactive regulatory environment. We maintain records regarding driver licensing, vehicles, medical fitness, driver competency, collisions and compliance, all working together to ensure a safe road network.
About Our Opportunity
Under the direction of the Deputy Registrar of Motor Vehicles, you are responsible for assisting in the administration of driver training schools and instructors as well as responding to information requests related to the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Information requests with an emphasis on driver licence and vehicle transactions are from specific stakeholder groups including law enforcement, legal counsel, and other government departments who require certification / confirmation of data which may be submitted in court.
Primary Accountabilities
This position is responsible for the administration of licensing of driver training schools and instructors including coordination of required documents, premise and vehicle inspections for use by driver training schools and instructors. Coordination with internal staff, external stakeholders, and other government departments is required.
You will be responsible for the processing and maintenance of highly secure files related to law enforcement and fraudulent driver / vehicle documents including certified letters and facial recognition.
Qualifications and Experience
As our next Police Services Representative, you have at least five (5) years of related experience. You have demonstrated knowledge of RMV systems and programs and are familiar with applicable legislation and regulations, including Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) Act. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in escalated situations.
It is essential that you have a high level of competence and comfort in using word processing and case management systems (Microsoft Office 365). Proficiency and accuracy in data entry is required, along with your ability to use and maintain spreadsheets. You must have an ability to organize and analyze information from multiple sources and work effectively under pressure and timelines.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools : written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
Equivalency
An equivalent combination of relevant training and experience will be considered. Related equivalencies include, but are not limited to :
- A completed related bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience
- A completed related diploma and three (3) years of experience
