Your Opportunity

This Major Projects Legal Counsel position specializes in alternative project delivery (APD), such as design-build, progressive design-build, P3, Alliance and Integrated Project Delivery projects and will be part of Stantec's Commercial Risk Governance group.

The Major Projects Legal Counsel will work directly with Project teams and will also support the Director of Commercial Risk Governance.

This is a great opportunity for lawyers with strong business and commercial acumen.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the review, drafting and negotiation of contracts and other legal documentation.
  • Support Project teams in the day-to-day pursuit and delivery of Projects to proactively identify and manage risks.
  • Assist with development and review of formal Project documentation, such as notices and responses to claims and disputes.
  • Support the Director of Commercial Risk Governance with review and development of resources, templates and reference material.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with Project teams by cultivating a deep understanding of Stantec's business and being proactive in improving risk management practices for Stantec's Projects.

Qualifications

  • Proactive, can-do and collaborative attitude is a must.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, and to be able to work independently.
  • Strong drafting skills.
  • Highly developed business sense.
  • Excellent communicator with a practical approach.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

Education and Experience

  • Possess a Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree and be admitted to the bar in the United States or Canada.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience.
  • Relevant APD experience is a must.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s) :

Salary Range(s) :

Lower Mainland $99,500 - Lower Mainland $144,400 Min / Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
