Position Summary :

The General Counsel will be responsible for managing the company’s legal affairs, with a strong focus on franchise law, compliance, and contract negotiation.

This position requires deep experience in Franchise Disclosure Documentation (FDD) filings, employment law matters, and the ability to provide strategic legal advice to senior leadership.

Experience developing a Contract Management System and working with outside counsel on litigation matters desired. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the franchising space and be adept at balancing the legal needs of a growing organization with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities :

Franchise Disclosure Documentation (FDD) :

Monitor and update FDDs as necessary, ensuring the documentation reflects current legal and business requirements.

Lead the preparation, filing, and maintenance of Franchise Disclosure Documents, ensuring compliance with state and federal franchise regulations.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs :

Oversee franchisee compliance and enforcement of franchise agreements.

Develop and implement internal policies to minimize legal risk.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including franchise laws, employment laws, and other regulatory requirements.

Contract Negotiations and Management :

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including franchise agreements, vendor agreements, and other key legal documents.

Develop standard vendor, supplier, and distributor contract forms

Advise the CFO and other senior leaders on key contractual obligations and risks.

Employment Law :

Ensure compliance with employment laws and assist with creating policies related to workforce management.

Provide guidance on employment law matters, including employee relations, disputes, and terminations.

Qualifications :

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Active membership in good standing with the Arizona State Bar (or ability to obtain membership promptly).

3+ years of legal experience, with at least 1 year focused on franchise law and compliance.

Experience with Franchise Disclosure Documentation (FDD) filings and franchise registration processes.

Strong knowledge of employment law, contract law, and compliance matters.

Proven experience in contract negotiation and risk management.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and provide practical legal solutions.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
