Position Overview
As a Quality Assurance Inspector , you will report directly to the Quality Manager, and will administer the Company Quality Plan.
This position is on a full-time contract until 2026 . In this role, you will be responsible for assuring that quality standards and procedures are disseminated and implemented throughout the company.
You will perform and report on internal quality system audits and assists in the overall administration of the internal audit program.
District Overview
Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial.
We serve the construction and mining industries and operate in Eastern Canada.

This position is based in Ottawa, ON.

Responsibilities
The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for :
- Ensure the consistent application of ITPs across all work processes.
- Work closely with Operations to inspect ongoing construction activities.
- Validate work conformity at critical hold points using comprehensive checklists.
- Monitor checklist usage to promote right-first-time practices within 48 hours.
- Proactively identify non-conforming work or other quality-related issues.
- Issue Corrective Reports (CRs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) while actively participating in issue resolution.
- Ensure proper material reception and storage, adhering to manufacturer recommendations.
- Regularly review the ITP Inspection Notification Log to maintain accurate records.
In regards to Subcontractors, the Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for :
- Assume a quality assurance role in managing subcontractors.
- Conduct periodic audits of subcontractor quality records to validate effectiveness.
- Ensure subcontractors adhere to ITP requirements.
- Confirm that subcontractors utilize checklists as specified in the contract.
- Request appropriate testing frequency for compaction and concrete testing.
- Ensure all relevant information is meticulously recorded during testing.
In regards to Suppliers, the Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for :
- Work closely with suppliers to identify quality requirements.
- Conduct Quality Kick-Off meetings with suppliers to explain project Quality Management.
- Regularly audit suppliers to verify submission of required quality records.
- Actively participate in weekly coordination meetings to resolve quality-related issues.
- Ensure all quality issues are resolved before releasing the final payment to suppliers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and / or 3-5+ years of related experience in Quality preferably within a heavy civil and industrial contractor and / or an engineering / quality consultancy.
- Experience in a project management type environment; specific experience in Kiewit-related projects such as mass transit, transportation, power, oil & gas, mining and heavy industrial would be an asset.
- ASQ Audit certification is preferred.
- Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications required.
