Shift Supervisor, Waste Processing

GFL is looking for an EVENING shift supervisor to support our liquid waste processing facility in Ottawa!

Key Responsibilities :

• Assign production and waste handling activities to achieve company goals by communicating expectations, assigning tasks, and evaluating results and daily performance.
• Oversee day to day waste receiving, bulking, and processing activities.
• Oversee maintenance of processing rooms and associated workspace.
• Maintaining container storage area and related signage and accurate inventory records.
• Review truck schedule and oversee trailer preparation and loading for servicing of customers.
• Update work order status and driver times in OMS and chain of custody for incoming and outgoing waste paperwork.
• Tracking and recording of employee hours, both GFL and Staffing Companies.
• Tracking and approving employee vacation and time away from work and scheduling of staff to accommodate incoming business volume.
• Recording of incidents using the SEMS system.
• Assist in the assessment, training, and disciplinary actions of staff when required.
• Oversee and delegate tasks to the Chemical Operators, Forklift drivers, Tank Farm Laborers, and General Laborers in accordance with the daily targets.
• Ensure daily scheduled activities are completed (working with staff)
• Monitor Health & Safety of floor staff and communicate hazards of daily incoming waste and activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies :

• Grade 12 diploma, post-secondary education beneficial in technical field
• G License minimum, with a clean driver abstract and a personal vehicle.
• Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental training
• Supervisory experience in a busy manufacturing environment
• Supervisory Course or equivalent course or proven work experience
• Working knowledge of the latest edition of ISO / IATF procedures
• Previous experience as Shift Supervisor in a manufacturing plant
• Good troubleshooting skills when mechanical issues arise
• Operational experience in the industrial recycling industry (an asset)
• Self-motivated : demonstrates appropriate initiative with or without direct supervision
• Hard worker : someone who works diligently to get tasks done in a timely and safe manner
• Adaptability : the ability to make changes, and to be successful in changing environments
• Team player : an associate who can be counted on to assist the company in being successful
• Commitment to working safely.
• Experience with how to operate Forklift, Backhoe, and DZ Vacuum Trucks.
• Forklift certificate considered an asset.
