Primary Job Functions

Security of the Network, Senior Network Engineer, Network Architect.

Senior Network Engineer with expertise in Networking who will be responsible for implementing highly scalable solutions on the Microsoft Azure Public Cloud and On-Premises environment.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's network architecture to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability.

The candidate will have a small SOC reporting to them, experience with Splunk is preferred. As a member of the team, you will work alongside reliability teams to ensure site reliability and that all releases seamlessly move from development through staging and into production.

  • Oversee the planning and execution of network projects, provide technical leadership to the team, and collaborate with cross-functional departments to meet business objectives.
  • Design, implement, and manage complex network solutions to support business operations.
  • Responsible for safeguarding an organization's computer systems and networks from security breaches, cyber threats, and vulnerabilities.
  • Lead network architecture planning, including hardware and software upgrades.
  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting network issues and implementing solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure network security measures are in place.
  • Conduct regular network performance monitoring and optimization.
  • Mentor and train junior network engineers to enhance team capabilities.
  • Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for network improvements.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation for reference and compliance purposes.
  • Experience in the planning, design, deployment, and support of LAN / WAN / and IP architectures.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and software solutions including deploying network services and protocols such as TCP / IP, OSPF, BGP, LAN Switching Technologies, Next-Gen Firewalls (Fortinet preferred), and Load Balancing (F5 preferred), etc.
  • Extensive experience in traditional route / switch, Wireless technologies, VPN, SSL, DNS, DHCP, and ISE.
  • Conduct network security assessments & recommend remediation actions.
  • Firsthand experience with network security.
  • Design and maintain security controls for network infrastructure. Enhance security monitoring and detection systems to identify abnormal behavior.
  • Experience utilizing a public cloud solution (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Prior experience working with industry network tools : monitoring (Splunk, NetScout, Zabbix), management (Prime, ISE, Aruba Central), inventory management (Netbox, IPAM), and DNS solutions.
  • Scripting experience with scripting languages (python, GO, PowerShell) and tools (versioning, GitHub) as well as experience utilizing REST APIs, JSON, and YAML.
  • Experience with multiple hardware / software platforms such as :
  • Cisco
  • Fortinet
  • NetScout
  • Nutanix (or other hyper-converged technologies)
  • VMWare and Acropolis Hypervisors
  • Strong teamwork skills, ability to learn quickly, excellent written and spoken communication.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies.
  • Monitor and Troubleshoot network performance and integrity. Resolve escalated issues by troubleshooting both cloud and local infrastructure.
  • Automate tasks and assess their effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of network architecture design and / or solution engineering
  • 2+ years of network design or administration involving cloud infrastructure AWS, Azure, Google, etc.
  • 2+ years of scripting or coding experience with one or more languages
  • 8+ years of relevant IT experience in large / complex IT architecture environments
  • 4-year degree in IT related course of study
  • Preferred Professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNP, CISM, CISA, CEH etc.).

Must haves :

  • Network Architecture experience, 15 plus years of experience in all areas.
  • FortiGate / Fortinet Firewalls
  • Cisco Routers / Switches / Cisco ASA
  • Scripting experience with Python
  • Experience with Fortinet Firewalls, Firewall Analysis, VPN, Cloud Security (Azure), VPN Security, Security Compliance, SAML, Radius, Cisco (Routers / Switches / ASA Firewalls), F5 Load Balancing
  • Proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer or similar role in a large-scale environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead projects and teams effectively.
