Network Analyst
The Opportunity
Horizon School Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Analyst to join our team. Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Operational Services / COO, the Network Analyst is responsible for the design, administration and maintenance of the division wide network (WAN) including Active Directory.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify and resolve routine hardware, software, and network issues
- Demonstrating responsibility for the school division’s mission critical technology services and hardware.
- Demonstrating responsibility for the design and maintenance of the school division’s virtualization platforms, including VMWare, Microsoft, Linux, and other server technologies
- Monitoring and administrating the division’s communication systems, including email, voice, and paging
- Monitoring and maintaining the division’s system center configuration manager packages, deployments, and infrastructure
- Being responsible for the backup and recovery of all data and ongoing engagement with the division’s business continuity plan for education
- Working as a liaison / support for any 3rd party contractors that need access to division systems.
- Providing current, consistent and ongoing technical documentation for the stability and administration of all systems maintained and developed under this job scope
- Active engagement and ongoing monitoring and control of the division’s cyber security platform, and associated controls
- Monitoring logs of servers under this job scope and troubleshoot warnings and errors
- Being responsible for the operation of all servers under this job scope and the yearly maintenance of the school division servers
- Research and recommend improved methods or enhancements for division networks
- Assisting where necessary with any network requests or implementation from CommunityNet or the Ministry of Education
- Assisting, supporting and in-servicing employees with assigned division cell phones
- Monitoring and maintaining the divisions Cisco Meraki, and Juniper Network architecture, including its associated routing and switching gear
- Monitoring and maintaining the Palo Alto firewall stack
- Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Operational Services / COO
Qualifications and Abilities
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in the design, implementation and maintenance of a variety of high level network and information systems
- MCSA, CCNA / P, Certification from Accredited Technical Institution or equivalent experience
- Expert in Windows System Administration
- Previous SCCM experience is welcome
- Expert in Cisco Routing, Switching and Communication Systems
- Experience working in VMWare vCenter
- Proficiency in the administration of G-Suite andOffice365
- Experience developing and maintain hybrid based environments with Azure, and AWS
- Proficiency in managing iOS and Android devices in an enterprise environment
- Demonstrated competency in high level technical troubleshooting and resolution
- Familiarity with ITIL and / or equivalent project management concepts would be considered an asset
- Aptitude for team work and collaboration with other departments
- Familiarity with standard communications protocols and standards
- Computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, social media, and Google Workspace for Education
- Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills, verbal, written in personal and online
- Understanding and experience working in an office and a school setting.
Education and Experience
- Successful completion of a post secondary education program related to information technology systems management
- Minimum of two years' experience or a suitable combination of education and experience
- Previous experience working in a PreK-12 school division
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA / CCNP, Microsoft Azure / 365, Google Workspace certifications are highly valued
- Extensive hands-on technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards
- Strong knowledge of modern network management and analysis tools
- Extensive experience with client / server and operating systems including Windows 10 / 11, macOS, and Linux
- Experience working in a switched and routed network environment
- Hardware, software, and network troubleshooting experience
- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, including but not limited to, Cisco Catalyst series switches, Meraki, Juniper, and Palo Alto devices
- Knowledge of cybersecurity measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus software
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws such as LAFOIP, GDPR and CCPA
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
