Job Description
The Education Manager will report directly to the Vice President, Academic and work with the senior management team to oversee the facilitation of the Programs. The Manager of Education will provide input on retention, student success, student satisfaction, and regulatory requirements and standards with the Directors and Managers within education. Aligning instructors with academic policies, culture, leadership, mission, and vision; and the need to support student success will be vital to this role. The Education Manager will take the lead on managing all initiatives related to any approvals or accreditation and ongoing program review of their respective programs. This will require working closely with all departments within the college.
Key Accountabilities :
- Ensure program sustainability for programs, which will be driven by Enrolment, Retention, Expense Management, Program Development, Employer Relations, and Student Satisfaction.
- Work closely with Coordinators (or equivalent ranking staff), Instructors and respective teams to ensure consistent delivery of programs that are aligned with Oulton’s values and within the provincial guidelines for programs.
- Work with the Manager of Admissions to ensure a clear and accurate message of program content is getting delivered to prospective students.
- Monitor student attendance, withdrawals, satisfaction on a monthly basis and report Key Success Measures to Senior Management.
- Collaborate with other managers on special projects to improve enrolment. This could involve putting together events at the college, marketing a specific aspect of a program, etc.
- Building strong relationships with Regulatory / Employers / Stakeholders to ensure growth of program profile, clinical seats and of job opportunities for students. This aspect will be completed in conjunction with Curriculum and Program Reviews to ensure we are delivering the best graduates.
- Manage Student Retention, Remediation, and Re-Admission with the registrar and student services areas to ensure students are provided with appropriate opportunities in accordance with the Colleges and provincial education regulations.
- Ensure the program teams are aligned towards college values and goals. Establish a mechanism to measure productivity, especially during non-teaching time.
- Monitor classroom instruction / delivery (classroom observations)
- Ensure yearly program reviews are completed and present changes to senior management, track actions to ensure completion
- Ensure class schedules, syllabus for each class, textbook lists, and related academic equipment and supplies prepared and submitted on time and that any payroll changes are communicated to HR.
- Plan resources required for all programs (including lab needs).
- Approve / participate in final interview when hiring of new instructors
- Responsible for accreditations and approvals
- Consult with HR to coach team members who are struggling with moving their plan forward and not achieving goals. Ensure Coordinators (or equivalent) put forward solutions to issues that need to be resolved (part of coaching)
- Resolve staff / student issues and conflict
- Monitor “At‑Risk” student list and meet with students who are on probation and who are at risk of withdrawing
- Contribute to the strategic planning process with management team
