Reporting to the Deputy Chief, Strategic and Operational Support, the Director is critical to providing executive HR leadership, aligning the strategic vision for the Service with HR initiatives.
The Director influences and drives various activities across the entire employee life cycle including talent acquisition strategy, workforce and leadership development and planning, employee and labour relations, employee engagement, performance management, professional accountability, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
Perhaps most importantly, this newly non-union role acts as a strategic advisor to the Chief of Police and all of Command in all matters related to people operations, systems, and workforce planning.
As an ideal candidate, you bring a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration or related field combined with a minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience with significant experience in leading and building teams.
DRPS will benefit from your expertise in building credibility for the value of strategic human resources leadership and in your proven experience in providing advice and guidance to executives on human resources matters.
You are a proven change leader with a track record in implementing new technologies, programs, processes, and initiatives informed by a deep knowledge of legal standards and overall best practices.
An excellent communicator and relationship builder respected for your authenticity, transparency, and conviction, you demonstrate strong analytical skills and experience in strategic planning and data-driven decision-making.
You are adept at facilitating and collaborating to achieve outcomes in a complex, highly operational, unionized environment.
Although not a mandatory requirement, candidates holding a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL or CHRE) designation or Master’s in Industrial Relations (MIR) are preferred.
