About Our Client

Our client is a leading Canadian organization with more than six decades of experience in the design, manufacturing, commissioning, and servicing of nuclear power generation equipment and related services. Its capabilities span critical nuclear components, fuel and fuel systems, plant services, and specialized manufacturing supporting complex, regulated environments.

Through a dedicated medical division, the organization also supports the global healthcare sector by developing, manufacturing, and delivering medical isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals used in life‑saving diagnostic and therapeutic procedures worldwide.

Headquartered in Ontario, the organization employs approximately 1,800 people across multiple locations in Ontario and British Columbia and operates as part of a publicly traded, international nuclear technology enterprise. The organization is committed to empowering its workforce and fostering a collaborative, growth‑oriented environment, encouraging continuous learning, innovation, and knowledge‐sharing across all career stages. It values diverse skills, backgrounds, and experiences and provides opportunities for individuals to contribute meaningfully to nuclear innovation and global impact.

Description

As a Field Engineer, you will provide pre‑deployment, execution, and closeout support for Field Services projects. In this role, you will work under the supervision of the Field Engineering Supervisor / Manager and be assigned to Project and Site Managers depending on the project. You will collaborate closely with multiple workgroups to address technically complex issues within tight schedules and may serve as the Field Engineering Lead on larger projects. This position also involves regular interaction with customers and regulators to ensure effective communication and project success. This role involves extensive travel (up to 80 %) and may include shift work and extended hours to support field projects.

Pre‑Deployment

You’ll support project planning and readiness by reviewing scopes of work, applicable CSA and ASME standards, and technical requirements. You’ll develop and review work packages, procedures, and tooling designs to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with quality and safety standards. You’ll collaborate with engineers, technicians, and trades to align on expectations, deliver technical training, and lead readiness and lessons‑learned reviews.

Execution

Once on site, you’ll serve as the primary technical contact, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with approved procedures and standards. You’ll oversee field execution by monitoring work quality, resolving technical issues, and enforcing adherence to safety and quality protocols. You’ll provide direction to trades and technicians, coordinate with stakeholders to address issues, and communicate daily progress updates and upcoming priorities to project management, customers, and regulators.

Closeout

At project completion, you’ll verify that all technical and quality documentation is complete and accurate, ensure required approvals are obtained, and capture operational experience and lessons learned for future improvement. You may also prepare technical reports summarizing project execution and outcomes.

Education, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Working toward Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
  • Strong understanding of materials, machining, and field execution practices, including Non‑Destructive Examination applications.
  • Familiarity with nuclear codes and standards (ASME III, V, VIII, IX, N285; CSA N286, N299).
  • Skilled in preparing technical reports and communicating complex technical information clearly in English.
  • Knowledge of Human Performance and Foreign Material Exclusion practices.
  • Ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical field procedures and provide training to engineers, technicians, and trades.
  • Proven ability to execute and provide direction on critical path activities.
  • Valid driver’s license, personal transportation, and eligibility for nuclear security clearance are required.
  • Nuclear Site Security Clearance is considered to be an asset, and will be required to deliver this position.

Diversity Equity and Statement

SWC and our client believe diversity drives innovation. They are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where every individual feels valued and empowered to contribute. We encourage applications from women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, and other underrepresented groups.

If you are interested in this opportunity and would like to learn more, please submit your resume to hr@strategicway.ca . We thank all candidates for their interest, however only those selected to move forward will be contacted. SWC is an equal opportunity employer.
