Purpose of Position
This position works with LDS learners from 3-adult in one-to-one settings to deliver a broad range of learning services in support of LDS’ mission and our commitment to being research-informed and individualized in delivering student education.
In addition, the Case Manager at our East Vancouver location is responsible for supporting fellow instructors, learners, and families with feedback and recommendations to ensure learning goals are being achieved.
Please note the split of hours between Case Management role and Instruction role varies seasonally as the needs of our student population shift.
Job Duties :
Instruction (approx. 17.5 hours per week)
- Deliver one-to-one instruction in literacy or mathematics, including support with planning, organizing, and homework.
- Administer student assessments to help identify gaps in learning.
- Work with evidence-based curricula to develop lesson plans based on assessments.
- Set goals and objectives for students; monitor their progress over the year.
- Provide session notes to families.
- Attend instructor in-services and workshops as needed throughout the year.
Case Management (approx. 20 hours per week)
- Facilitate communication between instructors and families.
- Coordinate and write student debriefs to ensure individual learning goals align with clinical / assessment data.
- Evaluate RISE Learning plans and provide feedback where appropriate.
- Attend and contribute to bi-weekly case management meetings (virtually).
- Communicate with and update LDS’ main office as needed.
- Provide onboarding support for new instructors.

- Self-motivated and self-directed - Ability to mentor and support new instructors
- Exceptionally organized using digital shared platforms (databases, excel sheets, etc.)
- Compassionate and caring, with an ability to set professional and privacy boundaries in sometimes-challenging conversations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience including experience managing instructors / teachers
- Bachelors degree in education or related field with educational experience
- Experience working with children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
- Ability to use assessment strategies and instruments to identify gaps in learning
- Experience teaching in the following areas : reading, writing and / or mathematics
- An understanding of the BC curriculum
- Criminal record check with the vulnerable sector
- Eligibility to work in Canada
Start date : no later than September 3, 2024 but earlier start or gradual start is possible as of August 2024.
Reports to : Senior Manager, Education and works closely with Senior Manager, Instruction & Innovation.
Hours of work : This position is full-time (37.5 paid hours / week) with somewhat flexible hours, although the position requires that the candidate be available during instructional hours.
Specific schedule can be discussed but two examples of work hours are : Mon-Fri 11am 7pm OR Tues-Thurs 11-7 / Fri-Sat 9-5.
Remuneration : $54,000 - $58,000 FTE, based on experience and education. Paid vacation and closure between Dec 25 and Jan 1 that does not count toward your vacation.
