Plant Manager (Site Leader)

Our client is a National Food Manufacturer Canadian, privately owned with over a dozen facilities, profitable and growing.

They are investing heavily in their processes, people, and technology to remain a leader in their industry. They produce high quality food brands feeding many Canadian households.

Hiring to build a robust Operations team to support our sites and Team Members. The Site Leader / Plant Manager, reporting to the Regional Operations Leader, will provide hands-on leadership for one of the main sites in Western Canada.

You will insure that all production schedules are met safely, and on time, while continually providing collaborative leadership, working with all departments to assist in the reduction of costs;

improvement of production efficiencies, coach and mentor you team in quality processes, all within a fast paced food manufacturing environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Leads by example and fosters an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among teams
  • Responsible for leading all manufacturing leaders, and team members, and fostering a Health & Safety environment
  • Leads, coaches, mentors and supports leaders in the site
  • Ensures production schedules are met
  • Oversee reporting of the Sites’ KPIs
  • Works collaboratively with the HR team to ensure compliance on people practices and to address any Team Member related issues
  • Works closely with home office teams (R&D, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering and more)
  • Is visible throughout the Site Production Floor, and co-ordinates the various department schedules, products and manpower to ensure that the production in the site runs smoothly
  • Works closely with maintenance and sanitation teams to insure Quality standards in the plant
  • Provides orientation and training as required to ensure an effective and efficient work force
  • Ensures that a safe working environment is maintained at all times by enforcing Company Standards and following up on regular inspections

Key Qualifications & Competencies :

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing leadership role, preferably at the plant management level.
  • Must be a demonstrated leader who easily interacts with others and is adept at leading and motivating a team to meet demands established by the schedule
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexible to be on call as needed
  • Working knowledge of GMP's, HACCP & O.H.S.A required
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Post-secondary education an asset
  • Be a model to others.
