The opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Global Communications and Corporate Marketing, the Senior Advisor, Strategic Communications will be responsible for the creation and implementation of an executive communication plan that will uplift communications between the leadership team and employees across the Company.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing and activating effective communications campaigns to improve the global awareness of Gildan’s business strategy and inform employees of the Company’s goals to ensure that everyone is aligned and working towards a shared vision.

Finally, he / she will also help reinforce the visibility of the leadership team with external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be an innovative, driven, collaborative and highly adaptable professional with experience in executive and strategic communications.

The role will be well-suited for someone who can get up to speed quickly, think outside the box and establish positive working relationships with senior leaders.

The role

• Participates in the creation of an executive communication plan that will assist the leadership team with the deployment of effective communications strategies to elevate alignment towards Gildan’s vision and goals
• Develops various employee-centric campaigns to help the organization raise awareness for Gildan’s business strategy across all levels of the organization
• Collaborates closely with senior leaders to effectively assess and support their specific communication needs and provide a successful mix of communications strategies
• Acts as a key expert to assist with presentations, memos, and key messages for relevant strategic business-oriented matters.

Guides Gildan’s senior leadership team in effectively communicating important business priorities, changes and programs

• Develops sustainable processes and tools that support Gildan’s goal of creating a strong communication culture throughout the organization
• Leads the implementation of townhall meetings globally
• Leads the organization of an annual Leadership Summit
• Monitors and manages the senior leadership team’s digital presence and recommends changes to enhance their profile and visibility

What you bring to the role

Knowledge & Professional Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or related field
• 7-10 years of experience working in communications, specifically with a focus on strategic communications
• Exceptional communication skills in English (professional level fluency), spoken and written. Superior writing and communication skills in French or Spanish will be an asset
