Job description

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Interstate Operations Coordinator to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations of interstate freight movements — from sourcing qualified carriers and negotiating rates to ensuring on-time pickup, delivery, and customer satisfaction.

This role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills, as well as experience using DAT Load Board and other freight-matching platforms.

Responsibilities

Carrier Procurement & Negotiation:

  • Source, vet, and secure qualified carriers for interstate shipments using DAT and other industry tools.
  • Negotiate competitive rates while maintaining company profitability.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with carrier partners.

Load Management:

  • Book and dispatch loads, ensuring accurate and timely communication of all shipment details.
  • Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery, proactively addressing any issues, delays, or service failures.
  • Coordinate with customers, dispatchers, and drivers to ensure all documentation (BOL, POD, rate confirmations, etc.) is complete and compliant.

Problem Resolution:

  • Handle in-transit issues, schedule changes, or accessorial requests efficiently and professionally.
  • Communicate updates promptly to customers and internal teams.

System & Data Management:

  • Utilize TMS and DAT systems to post loads, track carrier performance, and update shipment statuses.
  • Maintain accurate load records and ensure all data is entered correctly for billing and audit purposes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years in freight brokerage, carrier sales, or operations (interstate experience preferred).
  • Proficient with DAT, TMS systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook).
  • Understanding of U.S. and Canadian interstate transportation, equipment types, and freight documentation.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Customer-first mindset with problem-solving initiative.

Preferred Attributes

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced logistics or 3PL environment.
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements (insurance, carrier vetting, safety ratings).
  • Team player with strong work ethic and accountability.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentives.
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, etc.).
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
