JOB SUMMARY
The GTAW (TIG) Welding Instructor is responsible for the daily operations of the program through a variety of responsibilities including : facilitation, instruction, and learner support.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Deliver theory and practical instruction in :
Oxy-Fuel welding, cutting, and gouging.
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW / TIG).
Fabrication and repair of tubular structures.
Trade-related math, measurement, blueprint reading, and documentation.
- Provide instruction on shop and workplace safety.
- Administer and oversee work practicum components, coordinating with industry partners.
- Provide instruction and supervision in general lathe operations and milling procedures (e.g., test plates).
- Ensure program compliance with industry standards.
- Continuously improve the TIG welding program, implementing necessary updates and changes.
- Create, review and update course outlines, textbooks, and other instructional materials as needed.
- Apply and maintain quality standards in operating methods, systems, and procedures.
- Prepare and present subject materials following an approved curriculum using lectures, discussions, audio-visual aids, and hands-on laboratory / field studies.
- Assess student progress, provide feedback, and prepare remedial programs for students needing additional support.
- Evaluate student work and discuss results with both students and program management.
- Support students in determining their learning needs, goals, and objectives.
- Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, and instructor training workshops.
