The Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM) is seeking a Director of Knowledge Mobilization and Communications to lead the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of knowledge mobilization and communications strategies for the organization.
This role is part of the Senior Leadership Team and works in close collaboration with CHRIM’s researchers, Board of Directors and the Children’s Hospital Foundation as well as other key partners across the organization to design, deliver, and report on the impacts of research programs that advance CHRIM’s mission in child health research.
The Director of Knowledge Mobilization & Communications will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Purpose
The aim of this role is to advance CHRIM’s mission by increasing research use, research impact, and research connections among people, communities, organizations, and governments through the strategic leadership of all aspects of CHRIM’s knowledge mobilization and communications platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement an overarching knowledge mobilization and communications strategy for CHRIM, guided by frameworks for engaging researchers, trainees, patients, and decision-makers in research, health care and government
- Provide leadership, oversight, coaching, and mentorship to the knowledge mobilization and communications team
- Implement suitable engagement frameworks to guide collaboration with various knowledge producers and knowledge consumers on programs and projects that will focus thematic research outcomes advancing child health
- Build and manage strategic partnerships with individuals, communities, organizations, and governments that increase the importance of CHRIM’s health research and increase CHRIM’s visibility as a child and family health advocate
- Design and deliver professional development training and services for researchers to advance their knowledge mobilization, public relations, and media relations skills
- Provide media relations support to CHRIM executives and content experts
- Develop and implement a government relations strategy for advancing CHRIM’s mission in key impact areas related to child health advocacy
- Implement suitable evaluation tools and techniques for reporting on short-term impacts and long-term outcomes of research related to CHRIM’s mission
- Lead the development of all corporate communications materials, including CHRIM’s Annual Report
- Manage creative content production, published content, media engagement, and audience development across communications channels (e.g., mass media, social media, web sites, etc.)
- Provide project management and communications support for special projects
- Collaborate with the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba to support mutual branding, marketing, and communications activities as needed
