Overview

Garmin Canada has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Manager of Consumer Product Marketing. In this position you will be responsible for developing and delivering the marketing communications strategy and management for Canada. This role provides leadership and guidance on activities actioned by the Canadian marketing team, working to ensure all initiatives are executed within budget and alignment to the strategic business objectives.

  • Lead team of marketing associates, helping develop individuals' skill sets and success within Garmin.
  • Develop overarching communication strategy, including ongoing optimization across all marketing channels.
  • Strengthen the Garmin brand across sales and marketing channels and optimize the customer journey across all relevant business segments.
  • Expand Garmin’s marketing presence across advertising, social media, events and influencers.
  • Review and propose how budgets are spent across the relevant business categories.
  • Evaluate and review competitive insights to determine changes to Garmin’s marketing strategies for the Canadian region.
  • Develop proposals and concepts for expanding market segments in coordination with the sales department.
  • Collaborate with global marketing management and creative departments on additional local needs and materials.
  • Review and provide input to creative briefs and concepts and ensure messaging aligns with Canadian markets need.
  • Coordinate with the sales team on instore and online activities for retailers and distributors to help develop local merchandising strategies and needs.
  • Work closely with the global web team to ensure Garmin.com web content is relevant, accurate and up to date for both the English and French-Canadian locales.
  • Ensure all marketing materials maintain consistency in look and messaging.
  • Collaborate with global localization team to review all marketing materials and ensure appropriate translations to French Canadian and any adjustments to global English assets.
  • Oversee the PR strategy, working closely with our global PR team, and use tools to monitor regional coverage and review potential media events and opportunities for growth.
  • Responsible for internal communications across local management, marketing, sales and support staff.
  • Support local HR recruitment marketing and PR needs for the Canadian office.
  • Embodies Garmin’s Mission, Vision and Values and uses it in everyday job duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year accredited university.
  • Must possess ten or more years of marketing experience, with a minimum of five years of management experience.
  • Familiarity or background with French-Canadian language is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with all forms of marketing functions, including advertising, PR, social media and sponsorship.
  • Understands how to follow market trends, particularly within the retail environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge regarding marketing strategy of technical products and initiatives.
  • Must demonstrate effective and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced, and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and motivate performance.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed worker.
  • Demonstrates ability to build relationships with strong interpersonal skills across the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent time management and follow-up skills with the ability to generate and support pragmatic solutions that meet Garmin’s market launch requirements, while maintaining high quality standards.
