Job description

What Youll Do :

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day and monthly accounting operations of the organization. Reporting to the Controller this role is accountable for accurate financial data entry account reconciliations reporting and supporting payroll and cash management processes. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial information ensuring compliance with internal controls and contributing to continuous process improvement across the finance function.  More specifically :

Accounting Responsibilities :

  • Prepare journal entries account reconciliations bank reconciliations and monthly closing activities including accruals.
  • Assist in budgeting forecasting and variance analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Assist with daily treasury and cash flow forecasting.
  • Complete regular bank account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as assigned by management.
  • Assist with preparation of HST / QST and other compliance tax and corporate filings.
  • Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly quarterly and year-end closing processes.
  • Work with the Controller to identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and enhance reporting tools.
  • Support implementation of new processes tools and systems as needed.
  • Back up accounts payable receivable.
  • Assist with preparation for annual audits.
  • Maintain proper internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate cost allocations and timely financial reporting.

Payroll & Benefits Admin Responsibilities :

  • Process weekly payroll for approximately 40 non-unionized hourly and salaried employees using the ADP TeamPay payroll system.
  • Prepare related journal entries for general ledger.
  • Administer group benefits and registered retirement pension plan and related matters.
  • Reconcile all payroll general ledger accounts to payroll registers.
  • Prepare remittances for payroll-related government filings as required.
  • Maintaining employee files and information.
  • Provide payroll &benefits related information to employees on an as needed basis.
  • Prepare daily weekly and monthly reports such as overtime reports daily head count turnover reports etc.
  • Ensure compliance with ESA CRA requirements and company policies related to compensation and benefits.
  • Assist with year-end payroll reconciliations and T4 preparations and submissions.
  • Qualifications : Qualifications :

  • ADP experience required.
  • Great Plains experience preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in accounting Finance or a related field.
  • CPA designation or progress toward designation is an asset.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment considered an asset.
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional analytical skills problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Skills Required :

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Fluency in Excel Spreadsheets.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written English is a requirement of this position.
  • Ability to stay motivated and keep a positive attitude.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and provide this proof if provided an offer of employment.

  • 70 75k depending on experience
