Job Title: Quality Technician
Job Description
The Quality Technician is responsible for conducting analysis, identifying trends, and determining root causes of non-conformances such as QIR, CAB, and RNCs. The role involves analyzing existing quality techniques, developing new or revised quality methods, and preparing related instructions. The technician will be pivotal in initiating corrective and preventive actions for product or process discrepancies and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct analysis, trend identification, and root cause determination for non-conformances such as QIR, CAB, and RNCs.
- Recognize the need for and initiate corrective and preventive actions for product or process discrepancies.
- Review production documentation for compliance and adequacy of inspection call outs; develop required inspection criteria.
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure all necessary quality requirements are included.
- Participate as an authorized quality representative on the Material Review Board (MRB).
- Write NOE to support product integrity coordinators for the Toronto site.
- Action Quality Investigation Reports (QIR) and provide responses for corrective and preventive actions.
- Liaise with other departments to resolve Corrective Action Board (CAB) issues.
- Define problem statements, conduct root cause analysis, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Compile Quality audit checklists based on AS9100 and ISO9001 standards and perform audits.
- Ensure acceptable supplier FAI on product changes and new products for the Toronto site.
- Participate in AQP initiatives with suppliers related to new program development at the Toronto site.
- Lead QA discussions with suppliers and issue reports from supplier visits.
Essential Skills
- Degree or Diploma in Quality, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 3-5 years of on-the-job experience.
- In-depth knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, industry standards, practices, and specifications.
- Experience with structure analysis and material planning.
- Minimum of 3 years of aerospace experience.
- Experience in source inspection and conducting audits.
- Proficiency in GD&T.
Work Environment
The role involves inter-site and finishing centers Corrective Action Board (CAB) containment and closure of issues assigned to Toronto responsibility. The technician will liaise with other departments such as Methods, Engineering, Operations, and Supplier Compliance to resolve CAB issues. The work involves conducting potential root cause analysis, initiating corrective action work, and following up on updates and validation of corrective actions until closure. The technician will also provide technical input for BCSR (cost of poor quality) for quality issues and participate in PFMEA. Located in Mississauga, the site is a strategic hub for quality and supplier liaison teams, offering a dynamic and collaborative environment.
