Job description

Randstad is excited to partner with a Real Estate firm in their search for a Building Operator to work in their Missisauga commercial property. The Building Operator will be responsible for ensuring that the building is managed and maintained in a safe, environmentally responsible manner, and to the highest level of operational efficiency. This position joins a supportive and collaborative team and reports into the Operational Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain climate control and other mechanical systems within the property
  • Perform preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, electrical, roofing, and life safety systems
  • Assist with environmental assessments and reporting
  • Participate in the corporate occupational health and safety program
  • Monitor computerized control systems such as HVAC and lighting BAS
  • Respond to tenant service requests
  • Stay current with new industry practices, legislative changes, and new technologies
  • Overtime will be required for scheduled maintenance, equipment repairs, and building infrastructure testing
  • Occasional involvement in repairs or maintenance under inclement weather or uncomfortable conditions may be required. Must be able to provide direction during after-hours emergency situations
  • Ensure operations records, files, and documentation are maintained in an orderly, accurate, and timely fashion, demonstrating sound administrative and organizational skills

Qualifications

  • BES Operator Class II and I certification
  • Minimum 3 years direct work experience in commercial building operations
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
  • Experience working with hand tools
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to allocate time effectively and manage tight deadlines; work well under pressure to achieve quality results.
  • Results-oriented and detail-focused; capable of thriving in an environment with moderate to high levels of stress, particularly in emergency or conflict situations.
  • Trade certification is seen as an asset
