Oakville Trafalgar Eye Centre (OTEC) consists of eye specialists, both ophthalmologists and optometrists, who deliver high quality care in a state of the art technology driven clinic. We believe in delivering forward thinking seamless healthcare in a collaborative environment.

We seek qualified ophthalmic technicians to join a team of eye care professionals in Oakville, Ontario.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Checking vision and eye pressure

Taking slit lamp and fundus photos

Performing autorefraction as well as pachymetry and topography

Performing diagnostic testing including Humphrey visual field testing, OCT testing, UWF testing, etc.

Performing biometry measurements for pre-operative patients including A scan and IOL Master

Assisting with patient counseling

Answering simple patient queries

Wiping down rooms and equipment between patients

Loading patients into rooms

Opening the patient chart and loading testing

Ensuring lanes are fully stocked at beginning of day, and in orderly condition at end of day

REQUIRED SKILLS

Excellent customer service skills

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Accuracy and attention to detail, both with charting and when taking patient measurements

Flexible and adaptable, able to cross train and contribute as required

Comfortable with technologies such as EMR and digital imaging suite

Comfortable with advanced diagnostic equipment

Can work well and take instruction as part of a team, but can also work independently and with minimal supervision

Ability to work in, and enjoy working in, a high volume fast paced environment without compromising patient care or customer service

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma required

COA, COT, COMT certification preferred; COT or COMT strongly preferred

1-2 years of experience in opticianry, optometry, or ophthalmology

POSITION DETAILS

Compensation : Hourly commensurate with experience and qualifications + performance bonus

Hours : Full-time / flexible schedule (days / evenings / weekends) up to 40 hours per week

Location : Oakville, ON
