• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Follow verbal directions
• Ability to effectively calculate bend allowances as well as set backs.
• Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines such as shears, power presses, saws, plate rolls, drills, brakes, other hand tools to cut, bend, roll, ream, punch and drill, otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products
• Check products for correct shapes, dimensions, and other specifications
• Troubleshoot and perform corrective action or minor repairs
• Ability to operate a counter balance forklift
• Ability to setup and use a shear for the purpose of shearing material to be used on the brake press by the brake press setup operator.
• Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist
• Document work completed
• Clean or lubricate equipment and replace parts as required.
• Read engineering and architectural drawings, sketches, and work specifications to be performed, and lay out, measure and mark sheet metal according to drawings or templates
• Develop patterns for sheet metal using computer-assisted design and drafting (CAD) software package
• Willingness to help out in other departments and functions when not using shear or brake press.
• Modify program to suit the job requirements
• Application of math skills when required
• Complete first off part and inspect
• Ensure quality parts are produced
• Work with various materials from steel, stainless steel aluminum and bronze and brass with thickness up to 1 / 2"
• Proven experience
• Organization skills
• Be able to work in a team like manner
• Set up and run CNC Brake press machines
• Sound knowledge of programming
• Trouble shooting when needed
