Position Overview :
This role is essential in managing the international and domestic transportation of goods, ensuring timely and cost-effective deliveries. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring shipments, mitigating potential delays, reconciling shipping charges with carrier invoices, managing controlled goods, and stepping in as a backup shipper / receiver when needed.
Key Responsibilities :
Coordinate Import / Export Shipments : Manage the flow of goods from LG and or / suppliers to customers, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and customs requirements.
Proactively Track Shipments : Monitor the status of shipments across all modes of transportation (air, sea, and ground) and take immediate action to address and mitigate any delays, ensuring timely deliveries.
Shipping and Receiving of Controlled Goods : Oversee the secure transportation, receiving, and documentation of controlled goods in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Ensure proper handling and storage procedures are followed.
Communication with Carriers and Suppliers : Liaise with carriers, suppliers, and freight forwarders to schedule shipments and ensure accurate and timely documentation (e.g., bills of lading, customs declarations). Acquire spot quotes for selected shipment inbound and outbound.
Resolve Transportation Issues : Identify potential risks in transportation schedules and take proactive measures to resolve or minimize delays in transit.
Work with warehouse team to unload freight deliveries to avoid wait time charges.
Reconcile Shipping Charges : Review and verify carrier invoices to ensure accuracy, addressing any discrepancies between shipping costs and quoted rates. Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely payment.
Manage Shipping Documentation : Ensure all documentation for imports, exports, and controlled goods is accurate and complete, including customs documentation, HS codes, certificates of origin, and invoices. Update the product database related to shipping and product packaging.
Serve as Backup Shipper / Receiver : Step in as needed to assist with shipping and receiving duties, including preparing shipments, processing incoming goods, and ensuring proper documentation.
Ensure Compliance : Stay updated on international shipping regulations, customs procedures, controlled goods requirements, and tariff changes, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws.
Cost Control : Monitor shipping costs and identify opportunities to reduce transportation expenses while maintaining service quality.
Reporting : Provide regular reports on shipping status, costs(including duty charges), and any delays or issues, as well as key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics.
Qualifications :
Experience : 3-5 years of experience in logistics, with a focus on international shipping, import / export coordination, or transportation management. Experience handling controlled goods and shipping / receiving is an asset.
Strong understanding of global trade, shipping processes, customs regulations, and controlled goods requirements, particularly in dealing with shipments from the Far East and Mexico.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency working with ERP software and general computer applications(e.g MS Word, MS Excel)
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Proficient in transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to mitigating delays.
Ability to reconcile shipping invoices with accuracy and attention to detail.
Education : Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred but not required.
Working Conditions :
Fast-paced environment requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Occasional need to work outside of normal business hours to accommodate international shipping schedules.
