Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Operations Supervisor, under the direction of the Director, Pharmacy Operations, is responsible for supervising pharmacy workflow including day to day prescription management, supervision of pharmacy staff (Pharmacist, Assistants , preventing and addressing risk areas including medication errors, all in keeping with compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, professional practice to the profession of Pharmacy and Bayshore Specialty Rx policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organize pharmacy operations and staffing such that all required tasks are carried out effectively and efficiently; proactively anticipate and manage change.
Support Intake/Customer service team lead in maintaining an efficient workflow in all steps from receipt of prescription until delivery of mediation and supplies to patients.
Play an active role in implementing and supporting company sponsored programs/initiatives pertaining to Pharmacy Operations, ensuring that required resources are acquired, trained, and maintained to achieve required objectives while maintaining safe practices to ensure the highest quality provision of professional products and services.
Ensure that medication and supplies are delivered in accordance with Professional, local, provincial, and federal legislation and with Bayshore Specialty Rx Code of Ethics, Statement of Client Right and Responsibilities and Standards of Practice.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels are always maintained and providing pharmacist coverage when required.
Collaborate in the implementation and maintenance of information systems as needed.
Support the management of complaints and ensure that all concerns and complaints are followed up on, addressed, communicated, and documented.
Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities.
Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures.
Participates in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties. Is responsible for notifying immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns.
Responsible for completing Accident Reports for all direct reports who injure themselves on the job, within 24 hours of the incident.
Maintains confidentiality of patient and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel.
Ensures clinical Pharmacy standards are upheld, maintained, staff are trained, oriented, given opportunity for internal and external quality improvement and professional development opportunities.
Supervises Pharmacy services to ensure quality care & service to clients in accordance with internal and external standards of practice in pharmacy and performance.
Ensure accurate narcotic counts and reconciliation are completed daily, in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Participate in OCP audits and assist in developing and implementing action plans based on audit findings.
Ensure a proper on-call pharmacy service is assigned and rotated across pharmacy staff to maintain continuous support
Complete other tasks as requested.
Job Qualification
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/ or Experience
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
Licensed in the province of practice; in Ontario you must be licensed under 'Part A'
Must have sound knowledge of principles, practice and methods of pharmacy practice, business development, operations, service delivery, implementation and evaluation, and human resources practices
Recent experience in a management role considered an asset
Exceptional interpersonal skills and decision-making skills
Proven ability to handle difficult situations in an objective manner
Ability to work independently and effectively lead a team
Strong entrepreneurial and marketing skills
Demonstrated knowledge of Kroll considered an asset
Commitment to continual learning and willingness to undertake out-of-town travel, as required.
