Job Title: Security / Door Staff

Location: The American Bar - Vancouver, BC

Job Type: Part-time / Full-time (Evenings & Weekends)

Job Overview:
We are seeking reliable and professional Security / Door Staff to join our team at a busy, high-energy bar. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for guests and staff while ensuring all venue policies and legal requirements are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Check government-issued ID and verify legal drinking age at the entrance

• Greet and direct guests to tables, as well as work with reservation system to ensure seating times and reservations are being upheld

• Monitor guest behavior and maintain a safe, respectful atmosphere

• Control crowd flow and manage lineups during busy periods

• Enforce house rules and liquor laws in a calm and professional manner

• Handle conflicts or disturbances and de-escalate situations when necessary

• Communicate with bartenders, servers, and management about any issues

• Monitor capacity limits and assist with closing procedures

• Ensure guests leave safely at the end of the night

Requirements:

• Previous experience in security, door staff, or hospitality preferred

• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills

• Ability to stay calm and professional in high-pressure situations

• Physically capable of standing for extended periods

• Must be reliable, punctual, and team-oriented

• Valid Security License required (or willingness to obtain)

• Knowledge of local liquor laws and responsible service practices is an asset

• Availability for weekend evenings is a bonus
