This role is instrumental in ensuring WorkSafeBC is fully equipped to handle emergencies, from natural disasters to public health incidents, in alignment with provincial regulations and best practices.

How you'll make a difference : You'll guide strategies and combat risks to allow WorkSafeBC to best serve their employees.

Where you'll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position. In this role, you'll work primarily from our Richmond office, with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.

  • Lead emergency preparedness and response operations, including managing the activation of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) during critical incidents.
  • Coordinate emergency training programs, drills, and exercises to ensure compliance with ICS Canada standards and maintain staff readiness.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, including post-incident after-action reviews, while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Is this a good fit for you?

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in progressive leadership roles - including experience managing people - in emergency management, disaster recovery, or business continuity planning. Proven experience in managing emergency operations centers (EOCs) and leading incident response teams is required.
  • Experience within a public sector or regulatory environment is highly desirable.
  • We'll consider equivalent combinations of education and experience.

Before we can finalize any offer of employment, you must :

  • Consent to a criminal record check
  • Confirm you're legally entitled to work in Canada
  • WorkSafeBC's COVID-19 Employee Mandatory Vaccine Policy is suspended effective January 9, 2023; however, we reserve the right to re-implement it in response to changes in the public health landscape, including public health orders. We are committed to the protection, health, and safety of our employees and our Communicable Disease Prevention Program and related protocols remain in effect.
