My wife, age 83 is suffering from anorexia resulting from an inability to tolerate eating. She has lost weight and muscle tone as a result, and requires care from 8 am to 8 pm, Including; waking at 8am, changing from overnights briefs to pullons, help with dressing, toilet,medications, and goes to recliner chair, where she spends the day between activities. supervised breakfast at 9.00, followed by the first of 4 daily short walks in walker, which she cannot use alone, followed by pysio exercises at the kitchen counter. She is slowly regaining strength but she cannot stand, sit or walk without assistance Rests in chair till lunch followed by 2nd walk and physio exercises during rest periods, psw can do light housekeeping, laundry etc., During rest periods, she reads, usually one novel a day, andcshe is mentally undiminished Rests till 3.30, then walk, physio and snack at 4pm. All meals taken at dining room table, not in chair. Meals have been designed by an eating disorder specialist. Psw must be engaged in the eating process, with support and encouragement but firmness that each meal must be completed. Spouse is present to Final walk at 6, no physio, then final meal.meal at 6.30, very simple followed by preparations for bed at 7. We require a certified psw with reasonable command of english. Spouse is 83 but in good health and spouse been providing nursing care himsel but cannot manage the workload. We currently have full day care 8 to 8 from nurses next door, but the cost per week is not sustainable. Can discuss adjustment of the hours as well as weekend care as required.
